What nobody talks about

Why Holistic Wellbeing Feels So Inaccessible

Why Holistic Wellbeing Still Feels Inaccessible And Why That Matters For Business Owners

If you're building a business while juggling chronic illness, caring responsibilities, neurodivergence, burnout or simply the unpredictability that life throws your way, then this conversation is for you.

Because here's something I see all the time.

We talk a lot about business growth.

We talk about strategy.

We talk about systems.

We talk about scaling.

But what we don't talk about enough is this:

You cannot separate your wellbeing from your business.

Because when your health takes a knock, your business often feels it too.

And for many people, holistic wellbeing still feels difficult to access. Not because they do not want support. Not because they do not care about their health.

But because of cost, lack of knowledge and simply not knowing where trusted support exists.

I recently sat down with Hannah Strange to have an honest conversation around exactly that.

And honestly, there were moments where it felt less like an interview and more like two people connecting over a shared frustration.
Because this issue affects far more people than we realise.

Business Growth Becomes Harder When Health Is Unpredictable

Many of the business owners I support are:

  • Neurodivergent

  • Parent carers

  • Living with chronic illness

  • Managing disability

  • Balancing additional responsibilities alongside work

Life does not always fit into neat little boxes.

Appointments happen.

Children need support.

Energy changes.

Symptoms flare.

And when people are navigating all of that, traditional business advice often falls apart.

"Post ten times a day."

"Show up everywhere."

"Do more."

For many people that advice simply is not realistic.

Health and business are deeply connected.

If you are exhausted, overwhelmed or in pain, it impacts:

  • energy levels

  • focus

  • consistency

  • decision making

  • confidence

  • capacity

So wellbeing is not a luxury add on.

It is part of building a sustainable business.

Why Holistic Support Often Feels Out Of Reach

During the conversation Hannah shared why she created her foundation and one thing stood out immediately.

People often want support.

They simply cannot access it.

There are three major barriers.

Cost

For many people, prescription costs can feel manageable compared with ongoing holistic therapies, supplements or specialist support.

When budgets are stretched, wellbeing often becomes something people postpone.

Even if they know support could help.

Lack Of Knowledge

You cannot choose an option you do not know exists.

Many people simply are not aware of alternative routes available to them:

  • chiropractors

  • osteopaths

  • herbalists

  • nervous system support

  • nutrition approaches

  • holistic practitioners

If nobody introduces these possibilities, they stay hidden.

Trusted Information Is Difficult To Find

This is a huge one.

People want trusted advice.

Naturally many turn to medical professionals first.

But healthcare systems and holistic approaches have historically operated separately.

That can leave people feeling stuck between worlds.

Wanting options.

Not knowing where to begin.

Living Experience Often Creates The Biggest Mission

One thing I have noticed repeatedly in business is this:

Many people build businesses because of lived experience.

Because they experienced a gap.

A frustration.

A challenge.

And decided to create change.

Throughout the conversation there were shared experiences around chronic illness, hypermobility, neurodivergence and navigating systems that often leave people feeling unsupported.

There was a common theme:

People are frequently handed a diagnosis.

Then left trying to figure the rest out themselves.

That can feel exhausting.

Especially when symptoms impact everyday life.

And especially when you are trying to run a business alongside it.

Treating Symptoms Versus Looking At The Bigger Picture

There was an interesting discussion around something many people experience.

Pain relief can absolutely have a place.

Medication has a place.

Healthcare has a place.

This is not about dismissing one route in favour of another.

But many people are asking:

"Can I support my body in other ways too?"

Because often people are not simply looking for temporary relief.

They are trying to improve quality of life.

And quality of life matters.

That might involve:

  • movement

  • nutrition

  • supplements

  • chiropractic support

  • nervous system regulation

  • rest

  • stress reduction

  • practical wellbeing strategies

The key point is that wellbeing rarely comes from one thing alone.

The Advice That Stood Out Most? Listen To Your Body

Out of everything discussed, one message stayed with me.

Slow down enough to actually listen.

Modern life is loud.

Business is loud.

Social media is loud.

There is always another notification, task or to do list waiting.

But your body is often sending signals long before burnout arrives.

Long before exhaustion takes over.

Long before symptoms become impossible to ignore.

Sometimes support starts with five minutes.

Not five hours.

Not a retreat.

Not an expensive programme.

Five minutes.

A cup of tea.

Sitting outside.

Stepping away from your phone.

Creating a small pause.

Simple.

But often overlooked.

Sustainable Business Requires Sustainable Wellbeing

I talk a lot about creating businesses that fit around real life.

Not businesses that demand every ounce of your energy just to survive.

And conversations like this remind me why.

Because if wellbeing becomes inaccessible, growth becomes harder.

Not impossible.

But harder.

Support should not feel confusing.

It should not feel exclusive.

And it should not feel like information is hidden behind endless overwhelm.

The more conversations we have around this, the more change we create.
